From Japanese Warehousing Association
On Friday September 17th, a delegation from the Japanese Warehousing Association visited McKenna Logistics Centres warehouse in Delta, British Columbia. Twenty three delegates from across Japan toured the McKenna facility and listened intently as we shared ideas on how we conduct business in Canada and how the owners / operators from Japan handle their facilities.
Some of the main things that the delegates learned about McKenna were:
i) McKenna performs a needs assessment that they use to understand their customers business and then they input that data into their rates analysis tool to figure out the best price possible for their customers
ii) McKenna handles over 10 million units that they ship to the Mass Retail market with an accuracy rate above 99.9%
iii) McKenna’s unique “POD” program assures that their staff understand the customer’s product and handles it on time, safely and accurately
iv) McKenna’s Netview system combined with their RF capabilities ensure that their customers stay in tune with their business through real time access to their product
From the McKenna perspective, we learned that the Japanese logistics company’s price their product based upon labour and storage costs. a much simpler model than ours.
Prior to their visit at McKenna’s facility, the group met with the Canadian Material Handling & Distribution Society and they then went onto San Francisco for more logistics meetings.
On behalf of McKenna, we would like to thank our distinguished guests for honouring us with their visit and we wish them well in all of their future endeavours.
