Canadian Food for Children

Canadian Food for Children is a registered charity that provides food, clothing, and essential goods to underserved communities in developing countries worldwide.
In 1981, amid a building expansion, Charlie McKenna faced an unexpected inventory drop. Rather than see it as a setback, he chose to turn the moment into an opportunity to give back. He was contacted by local dermatologist Dr. Andrew Simone, founder of Co-Workers of Mother Teresa—a charitable organization in need of warehouse space for room for volunteers to work and collect donated goods.
Charlie offered shared warehouse space, and from that collaboration, both missions began to grow. As Co-Workers of Mother Teresa expanded, food and supplies were donated, purchased, and stored before being shipped overseas to support missions around the globe. With the help of dozens of volunteers, including students from local high schools, committed older adults, and individuals of every age in between, the organization now ships over 250 containers of food and goods each year.
That partnership continues to this day. Known today as Canadian Food for Children, the organization is still led by Dr. Simone (a member of the Order of Canada) and now by his daughter. McKenna Logistics Centres proudly supports the mission by encouraging clients to donate unwanted goods, reducing freight waste while helping deliver critical resources to communities in need.
“Our mission is to give every person on earth the opportunity to develop their soul. To allow them the health to go to school and work to live a life of dignity, to be protected from abuse, to freely choose the faith they wish to follow. I would like to help the poorest of the poor in the world.”
